JEEP ALTITUDE: AIMING FOR THE HIGHEST PEAKS

2021-03-03
If you're looking for a Jeep vehicle, you may have noticed that across the lineup, the name Altitude is often used to describe any version or group.
Specifically, only the Cherokee and Compass models have a version called Altitude. In the other cases, we speak of packages offered from other variants of a model. Let's see what all of this looks like.

Compass Altitude

On the Compass, the Altitude version is new and is exclusive to Canada for 2021. It features black exterior accents, 18-inch wheels (gloss black), black-painted roof, black leather seats, Uconnect 4C NAV multimedia centre with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation, a power driver's seat and a 7-inch colour in-cluster driver information display.

Cherokee Altitude

For the Cherokee, the Altitude model is upgraded in 2021. It comes with an exclusive ‘black-out’ appearance and an upgraded interior that includes Nappa leather-trimmed seats with Tungsten accent stitching, Uconnect 4C NAV multimedia centre with 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, power driver and passenger seats, a 7-inch color screen that is integrated into the instrument cluster and a dual-zone automatic temperature control.
The model also features 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, Gloss Black roof rails and grille, black exterior badging, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a remote starter.

Renegade Altitude

In the case of the Renegade, we are talking about a deliverable option, also exclusive to Canada. It features a unique black appearance that includes 17-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, side roof rails, grille and black badging. Inside, there are standard leather seating with power driver seat, Uconnect 4C NAV multimedia system with 8.4-inch touchscreen radio, integrated navigation, a 7-inch screen integrated into the instrument cluster, a security alarm and a blind-spot monitoring with rear cross path detection.

Grand Cherokee Altitude

When you get to the Grand Cherokee, you discover the Altitude variant immediately after the Laredo that comes in at the entry level. In fact, the Altitude is built off the Laredo with added features such as 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, black leather seats with perforated suede inserts, Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-inch touchscreen, and Gloss Black badging, grille and fog lamp bezels.
Note the recurring theme here - a pervasive use of black, which adds character to the vehicle.

Wrangler Altitude

With the Wrangler, it is not one Altitude package that is available, but two on the four-door Unlimited models. The package is added to the Sport version, but also to the Sahara variant. In the first case, it includes a black Freedom Top hardtop, 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, gloss black grille inserts and badging, as well as a heavy-duty suspension. On the Sahara, the Altitude package comes with a body-colour Freedom Top hardtop, body-colour bumpers, door handles, and exterior mirrors. It also offers 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, Gloss Black grille inserts and badging, as well as black leather-faced seats.
Lastly, note that the Gladiator pickup doesn't offer an Altitude package, but rather a group called High Altitude. The latter offers a little more, of course. It also comes on the Cherokee, the Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and the Grand Cherokee.
