2021 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE L DEBUTS

2021-02-12
The 2021 Jeep® Grand Cherokee L marks the first time we’ve ever seen seating for seven in a Grand Cherokee, and it also marks the turn to a more luxurious, advanced and capable Grand Cherokee across all trims.

It starts with the looks, which have grown more chiseled and elegant thanks to narrow headlamps, a forward-leaning seven-slot grille as well as squared-off fenders and new wheel choices. The roofline does well to recall the recently revealed Grand Wagoneer Concept. It’s imposing without being overly so, purposeful but rugged. It’s very unlike any Grand Cherokee before it.

Grand Cherokee L Equals Luxury

Inside, the instrument panel has been designed to both be easily accessible for the driver, but to ensure that the cockpit feels open and airy as well. Materials like open pore Waxed Walnut wood, Absolute Oak and Nappa Leather seating add a level of luxury to the Grand Cherokee L.

In addition to the wood, the dash is highlighted by a 10.1-inch Uconnect® 5 touchscreen display. Uconnect 5’s operating speed is five times faster than the previous-generation system. It’s Android-based and also makes use of over-the-air updates to ensure that it’s always operating at maximum functionality. An 8.4-inch screen comes as standard, but both systems feature Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully customizable home screen, five user profiles with specific climate control settings, mirror angles, seat position and music choices as well as 4G LTE connectivity for up to eight wireless devices. Which is more than the vehicle can seat, so you know that everyone in the car will be able to make use of the hotspot for their device!

If that main infotainment display isn’t enough for you, there’s also a Head-up Display available on Overland® and Summit® models, as well a 10.25” digital gauge cluster that provides a Night Vision Camera. Audiophiles, meanwhile, will appreciate the available 19-speaker, 950-watt McIntosh audio system. Luxury, space and tech – the Grand Cherokee L has it all.
On the capability front, the Grand Cherokee L will be available with either a 3.6L PentastarTM V-6 good for 290 horsepower and 257 lb.-ft. of torque as well as 5.7-litre V-8 (available on Overland and Summit models) good for 357 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque, fed to all four wheels via a TorqueFlite® eight-speed automatic.
Speaking of all-four wheels: the Grand Cherokee L will be available with two 4x4 systems: Quadra-Trac I® and Quadra-Trac II®. Quadra-Trac I gets a single-speed active transfer case, Quadra-Trac II gets a two-speed active transfer case.
If prospective Grand Cherokee L owners want even more off-road capability (and why wouldn’t they? This is a Jeep, after all), the Quadra-Lift® air suspension (standard on Overland and Summit models) is on-hand to provide a class-leading 10.9 inches (27,6 cm) of ground clearance that also allows for a water fording depth of 24 inches (60,9 cm).
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L arrives in dealers in the second quarter of 2021.
